Since I've been neglecting my Buell, I thought I better get it up and running. It has a leaky tank, so up onto the lift it goes.
I'm invited to a Buell ride this weekend, so I need to get on it.

More hacking
I worked on my plate bracket, think it came out OK.
Still no light, though. The weather was too iffy to go to Daytona.

Chop it!
I finally decided to whack the extra rear fender that I have.
I cut it plenty long so I can cut more if the mood strikes. I have a license plate frame I'll ruin first to see if It sucks or not.
I'm going to ride up to Miller's and the Chopper stop and find a tail light tomorrow, then I'll know where to bend it.
I want to keep the stock underbrace, because I'm thinking of making a luggage rack for it, to run if and when I score a solo seat.
I'm going to a Buell deal next weekend, so I guess the next project is to get my old Buell running.

Time flies
I wrecked my old cafe a long time ago, hit a dog-
I sold the wrecked tank to a friend of mine, as I had found a brand new factory one. Today, 25 years later, I got the tank back-
It's a little rough.

Claude's Kwacker
Went for a breakfast ride and met up with some fellas to swap lies. My friend Claude has been reworking his Kawi shaft drive.
It's pretty cool.
Man, I hate that big tank on my Sportster.

Front fender fun
I got a front fender for the right price, so I got to cuttin' and drillin', my favorite things. It started as a white stocker, and ended up like this-
I'll probably lower it a little, when the paint gets a little drier and harder. Can't go too far with the big tires I have on it.
I have a rear fender for it also, but I won't cut it 'til I get a tail light that I like.

Choke mount
While surfing a catalog, I saw a better way to mount the choke knob on the Sportster, thought I might just make one.
So, here it is-
I started fooling with the damper, but I'm still not sure how I want to mount it. It really doesn't need it, but for $20, it has to have it.-

I actually did some trimming on the rearsets I've had for months. No pics yet.

Drilling holes again
I was really sick of looking at the stock chain(belt) guard, so I got a piece of aluminum angle and went at it-
I'm going to lower the rear of it a half inch or so.

I also bought a steering damper yesterday, it should get mounted soon.

Beating the heat
I rode to Webster on Sunday, about 170 miles, and somehow I scorched my pantleg. This called for a shield. The culprit-
I have some old heat shielding and a die grinder-
After some cutting, sanding, and of course drilling, we have this-
It looks good in bare medal, but it'll turn black as soon as it gets warm enough to paint.
It's funny, I went to the Webster swap for the specific reason of buying a shield from a guy that's there all the time. Of course, he didn't have one.
